Global Steering Systems

Redesigned for the road ahead.

Project Overview

Global Steering Systems (GSS)—a world leader in automotive steering components—had the scale, reputation, and cutting-edge technology, but its online presence lagged behind. Despite its international reach and strong domestic footprint, GSS lacked a modern website to effectively showcase its innovation, research, and expertise. Partnering with WordPress developer Daniel Quinn, we reimagined GSS’s digital presence from the ground up.

The new WordPress site leverages the Gutenberg block editor, providing the GSS web team with a flexible, custom block library that allows them to build and update pages without technical assistance. We also introduced support for immersive 3D video in the product catalog, along with features to highlight corporate culture through company spotlights and an interactive timeline of GSS’s history.

IN COLLABORATION WITH
MY ROLE
  • User Experience
  • Web Design

Sitemap

The project began with a UX audit of the existing site, where I uncovered pain points in navigation and areas where content was getting lost. From those findings, I restructured the sitemap to create a clearer, more user-friendly foundation.

Wireframes

Once the sitemap was approved, I moved into wireframing with the company’s business goals at the forefront. The homepage was designed to showcase both the global reach and full-service capabilities of the brand, while strategically guiding users toward the products page.

To support long-term growth, the wireframes also accounted for scalability, ensuring the site could easily expand as new products are introduced.

Moodboard

A fresh art direction was developed for the redesign, building on the existing logo and color palette to ensure brand consistency. I created and presented a moodboard to capture the visual style and tone, securing client alignment before moving into detailed design.

Design

Using the approved visual direction as my guide, I translated the wireframes into fully realized designs. The result was a cohesive, on-brand interface that felt intuitive for users and visually aligned with the client’s vision, bridging the gap between raw structure and polished digital experience.

See the finished experience.
